IIC Partners ranked eighth worldwide
Revenues rise 38%
Zurich, April 2006
ZURICH — IIC Partners has placed eighth again this year in the latest ranking of the world’s largest executive search firms.
The ranking by US-based Executive Recruiter News (ERN) is based on global revenues. IIC Partners’ 2005 global revenues of $107.25 million US rose 38 per cent from $77.9 million in 2004, compared with an average increase of 16 per cent for the global executive search industry.
The IIC revenue increase was the largest among any of the top 10 retained executive search organizations in the world.
“We’re very pleased to have our status among the global leaders confirmed again this year,” said IIC Chairman Urs Martin Wüthrich of Zurich. “Revenue is the most important measure of business performance and we’re delighted to learn that we’re gaining on the competition, although not yet enough to advance our ranking.”
IIC Partners is also ranked among the global top 10 in numbers of offices. At the time of the ERN survey in January, IIC had 57 offices in 35 countries around the world. As of March 31, IIC now has 57 offices in 36 countries and Wüthrich said several membership applications are currently under review. (Note: owing to an error, the ERN survey mistakenly reports 67 IIC offices.)
“We will continue to add locations, selectively, in order to improved our ability to provide services to emerging strategic markets,” Wüthrich said. “But, quite frankly, we’ve outgrown any need to place additional dots on the map. We have very strong coverage in Europe, Asia/Pacific and the Americas and our focus now is on building market awareness and leveraging the expertise of eight industry-based practice groups.”
ERN reported that the search industry’s best results were achieved in Central and Eastern European countries and the Asia/Pacific region.
“We’re very glad to hear that, but not surprised,” Wüthrich said. “Last year we recruited new partners in Prague and Bratislava to add to our pre-existing positions in Warsaw and Vienna. These economies are growing dramatically, as multinationals position assets for access to the former Eastern Bloc and we felt it made sense to grow strategically in the region.
“In Asia/Pacific we have 14 offices, including five in Greater China and four in India,” he said. “Population and education are making these countries the emerging powerhouses of a very competitive and entrepreneurial region where many multinationals are building both market share and production capacity.
“The region poses special challenges and requires more than one new blend of executive skills,” Wüthrich said. “Because IIC member firms are each locally successful businesses, they know the demands of local cultures. They are simultaneously able to apply both global reach and intense local focus to any search assignment.”
